World Youth Day takes place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in July from 23rd-28th July.
A group of pilgrims from the Archdiocese will travel and participate at World Youth Day and a unique event is being planned in Dublin to celebrate – Rio in Dublin is especially aimed at young people who have either attended a World Youth Day or would like to savour some of the atmosphere of what takes place at World Youth Day.
It will take place on the weekend of 27th/28th July in Church St Friary, Dublin 7. A programme is currently being planned which includes
Each parish will receive an allocation of tickets for registration for Rio-in-Dublin.
- Pilgrim walks to Church St will take place from seven locations.
- Young people will be welcomed by members of the local Brazilian young people here in Dublin.
- There will be video links to Rio-for some of the key ceremonies involving Pope Francis.
- There will be a programme of catechesis, music, prayer – from late Saturday through to Sunday
- Hospitality will be provided by Brother Kevin and the homeless shelter.
- Only young people aged 18+ can participate at the Vigil
- Under 18’s are welcome to participate on the Sunday programme.
- There will be an opportunity to participate on a justice programme in advance of Rio in Dublin (hosted by Magis Ireland)
